Veterans Day at the Races

The day opens with a traditional Last Post ceremony and wreath-laying, accompanied by military charities on-course sharing their work at Warwick Racecourse on the 3rd November 2026, also at Nottingham Racecourse on the 4th November 2026.

The Stan Mellor Chase Day honours one of the sports finest – Stan Mellor, the pioneering jockey, trainer, and the first to ride 1,000 Jump winners – with a seven-race card headlined by the Stan Mellor Novices’ Steeple Chase. Expect competitive fields, tight finishes, and that unmistakable Warwick atmosphere as racing history takes centre stage.

Alongside this celebration of equestrian greatness we pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our Armed Forces. Military veterans receive discounted entry with valid ID, and the day opens with a poignant Last Post ceremony and wreath laying at 11.30. Military charities will be on course, sharing their vital work and ways to show support.

It’s a memorable blend of heritage, remembrance, and top-class racing – a day every racing fan and supporter will want to be part of.

The itinerary for the day is as follows:

  • 10.50 am – Gates open.
  • 11.30 am – Wreath Laying Ceremony with Standard Bearers and Act of Remembrance at the Winners Enclosure.
  • 12.18 pm – First race commences.
  • 3.48 pm – Last race of the day.
A British Military Charity with a Worldwide Reach

From our warehouse in Solihull, volunteers hand-pack the Grab Bags, each one bound for a hospital or military treatment facility anywhere in the world where a British service person within the Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force needs it most.

We may be small, but our impact is worldwide. And with your help, we will be able to support our injured service personnel as long as they need us.

Join us. Donate today. Help us support injured servicemen and women in their hour of need.
